As the Chairman of the Computer Science and Engineering department, I extend my personal greetings to you. Whether you are simply browsing, interested in our degree programs or interested in our faculty research activities, I hope you will find that our department meets your needs.
In 2002, Computer Engineering degree programs were added and the department’s name was changed to Computer Science and Engineering. Our offices and laboratories have moved into the renovated Research Park, about 4 miles north of the main campus. The department made significant progress towards our goal of becoming a highly ranked department in Texas and the US. We have substantially increased our research in terms of publications and extramural funding. Our graduate programs are seeing healthy enrollment increases. Our BS in Computer Science and BS in Computer Engineering are ABET accredited. We have completely revised our BA in Computer Science and renamed the degree as a BA in Information Technology. This program provides a sound technical education in CSE but permits significant flexibility in its curriculum. Our PhD degree has been renamed to permit both Computer Science and Computer Engineering options. Our Industrial Advisory Council regularly provides feedback on our degree programs and faculty research. We are sharing departmental activities with our alum and friends through our newsletters.
We constantly seek input from all our constituents. If you are a former, current or future student, parent of a current, former or future student, employer of our graduates, interested in recruiting our students, or interested in our faculty research, we would like to hear from you. I welcome you to either email me your thoughts or schedule a personal meeting with me to discuss your views and ideas.
