CSE sponsors Hot Topics in Networks and Security (HoNeST)

The UNT Department of Computer Science and Engineering was one of the sponsors of the Hot Topics in Networks and Security Conference (HoNeST) held at Ericsson in Plano, TX on Friday, March 27, 2015. Dr. Ram Dantu, CSE Professor and Director of the UNT Network Security Lab was the Conference and Program Chair. David Keathly, CSE Principal Lecturer and Co-PI National Convergence Technology Center, was the Proceedings and Publicity Chair. Both Dr. Dantu and Mr. Keathly were on the Steering Committee, along with CSE Lecturer Dr. Mark Thompson.

Program Chair Ram Dantu welcomed everyone to the conference.
Geoff Hollingsworth, Director of Business Development at Ericsson,
talked about "Data and System Security."
Rob Justice, Director of the Open Innovation Cisco Office of the CTO and Architecture,
lectured on "Trends in Security NfV."
Gurvinder Ahluwalia, Chief Technical Officer of Cloud Computing, Crossbrand unit at IBM, spoke about
"Smart Contracts and Blockchain; Security and Trust in Multi-tenant Cloud loT."
Basavaraj Patil, Principal Technical Architect at AT&T Mobility, presented "Securing M2M Technologies."
Dr. Barrett Bryant, Chair of the UNT CSE Department, introduced the Keynote Speaker from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Jeremy Epstein, Program Director at the National Science Foundation, gave the morning keynote speech on
"Voting Security and Risk Management."
Dr. Dantu introduced the afternoon keynote speaker Henning Schulzrinne, Professor at Columbia University and Chief Technical Officer at the FCC.
More than 250 people registered for HoNeST.
