Rank and Salary: This is a lecturer position beginning in Fall 2008. The position of Lecturer is not tenurable, but may be renewed annually based upon a favorable performance evaluation and availability of funds. Salary is $50K for 9 months. Additional salary may be earned during summer by teaching courses contingent on student demand and funding.
Responsibilities: Duties consist of the equivalent of four undergraduate courses per semester. A lecturer will be expected to teach a wide variety of courses in the undergraduate curriculum. Other teaching-related duties such as advising, section coordination, or co-curricular activities which aid the department’s teaching responsibility may be assigned with an appropriate course reduction.
Requirements: A M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required at the time of employment. The successful candidate must have knowledge or experience teaching Real-Time Operating Systems, Embedded Systems, and/or other hardware related courses.
Persons wishing to pursue a doctoral degree while performing the assigned duties are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is looking for instructors to teach courses in software engineering, real-time operating systems, real-time software development, embedded systems, and others, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Some of these courses are required for our new Computer Engineering degree programs. A brief description of these courses can be found on our website. The schedule of these classes can be negotiated to permit those who have a full time employment elsewhere.
A PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field is required for teaching graduate level courses. An MS and at least 18 hours of graduate level coursework in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required for teaching undergraduate level courses.
