The Lab Assignments serve as an opportunity for you to practice your understanding of the material in this course. The assignments will include questions in a fill-in-the-blank and short answer formats, as well as C programming exercises.

The Lab Assignments will be made available to you every Monday morning on the class website and the Lab website. In order for you to receive full credit, each lab must be submitted for grading by midnight of the following Sunday, unless otherwise specified by your instructor. Late Lab Assignments will be accepted until midnight Thursday, but with a 10-point per day penalty.

You should attend the first one are two labs due to the information that will be given. However, attendance to the lab sessions is optional, but turning in the lab assignments is not.  You are free to do the Lab Assignments on your own, using either your own computer and Internet connection, one of the General Access Computer Labs in the Discovery Park, or on main campus, or the computers in the CSE Department Computer Labs. Experience has shown that approximately 50% of the students attend labs.

A physical lab with Teaching Assistants is available to you so you can receive additional help with the Lab Assignments, if you need it. The CSE 1020 Lab is located upstairs near the Computer Science offices (there are signs on the walls that will help guide you to it after you find the Computer Science offices). The room is F218.   MAP

Due to the limited seating capacity of the room, students must register for a specific lab time, this guarantees you a seat in the lab and a computer at that time.

Please NOTE that you can attend ANY of the labs, if there are free seats available. Please be aware, however, that students that have reserved that lab time have priority. Also remember that you can also go to the CSE General Help Lab located in F205   MAP  . The Lab Assistants in the CSE General Help Lab are familiar with C and will be able to assist you, although they may not be as familiar with the assignments as the Lab Assistants in F218.

Students need to always work on the Lab Assignments individually. When two or more students turn in essentially the same assignment, this is considered cheating and severe academic penalties will occur as a result.

If at any time you have a question or problem with the Lab room F218, the Lab Teaching Assistants, or the assignments, please feel free to contact the CSCE 1020 Lab Coordinator, Gary Goodman, or contact your instructor.
