This is an advanced course that will explore the use of natural language processing techniques for educational applications. The course will be organized as a seminar, with readings and presentations every week. The grade will be based on participation (presentations of papers made throughout the semester + discussions and comments on presentations made by other students in the class), and on a term project. There will be no homeworks or exams.
While a previous NLP class is not a prerequisite, some basic knowledge of NLP is needed. Students who have not been previously exposed to NLP will have to do some additional individual work to fill in the gap. Feel free to contact the instructor for suggested readings.
