Travel scholarships for students to attend Senseval-3

Thanks to a generous grant from the National Science Foundation, we are able to offer four-six travel scolarships of $2000 each to support student participation in Senseval-3.

Only students actively participating in the Senseval-3 evaluation exercise can apply. Applications will be accepted from graduate or undergraduate students currently enrolled in an U.S. university. Notice that these scolarships are not restricted to US citizens or permanent residents.

To apply, please submit a package consisting of the following materials:
  • a description of your Senseval-3 system/task
  • curriculum vitae
  • letter of recommendation from you advisor
  • a description of what you hope to gain from attending the workshop, and what you believe you can contribute.
  • a statement regarding the availability of other funds to support/match your travel expenses
The application package should be sent in hardcopy to:

The deadline for receiving applications is July 1. The applications will be reviewed by the Senseval committee, and a decision will be made soon thereafter.

Those that will be awarded with a travel scholarship are expected to participate in the Senseval-3 workshop to present their work. After the workshop, you will have to send us a proof of your attendance (ACL and Senseval-3 registration, copy of airplane ticket, etc.), and you will be reimbursed for a flat rate of $2,000.

Feel free to contact us for any questions you might have regarding these travel scholarships.
